Fair Use

When can fair use be alright to use? That seems to be the question that you have to ask yourself a lot more as we get more technology. I think that fair use is fine for you to use for educational purposes such as what we will be doing for next week. I also think that it is good to use when you are wanting to make your point. Just because a video is posted one way does not mean that it couldn't be shown a different way. My generation has grown up with computers and the latest technology so we have many creative people that are able to put a new spin on an old movie. There are many great movies and music out there that at one time had _____ meaning and now you are able to find a new meaning for the same song. One example with this is the classic Disney songs that were incorporated into motion pictures now have been remixed to fit the new generation. Ex: Beauty and the Beast is remixed with Jordan Sparks version. When looking for a good example for a mash up video was during the 2008 elections and Hillary Clinton is giving a speech but it is a spin off of the ad for when Apple introduced the computer. This was making a point that this too could go down in history that we would have our first Woman president and it could make as much history as when Apple introduced a whole new way of inventing a computer. I seem to be having trouble with posting it to my blog but if you go to You Tube and type in mash up the video is titled " Vote Different". I really like what it says at the end stating "On January 14th the Democratic Primary will Begin. And you will see why 2008 won't be like " 1984". I think that this is a powerful statement that once again we are ready for change.
