Mashup

The reason why I chose to do this mashup is because I have grown up dancing. I took both hip hop and ballet lessons for a very long time so I thought it would be neat to somehow put the 2 very different styles of dancing together. Because I changed the music of the 2 different dance routines, I believe I justified fair use. I believe no ballerinas has ever danced the nut cracker routine to a T-pain song! I think me changing the music makes people see that you can dance to pretty much any music.

  1. I like the message you are sending with this mashup...dancing to the beat of your own tune is something that our society needs to do more often as opposed to following cultural norms. I think this would totally be considered fair use since it completely changes the meaning of dancing ballet to a hip hop song. Nice Work!

  2. I love it! It shows how music is versitile and that dance and music go together no matter what the style. The timing is excellent.

  3. This was so neat. I especially loved the beginning with the ballerinas dancing to hip hop and how well it meshed together. Very cool that you can hear that and be able to mix the music with something so different in regards to genre.

  4. This is really good. It made me think differently about ballet and hip hop and how different they are from each other. It also kind of reminded me of "Save the Last Dance" or Step Up when they combine the moves from classical ballet into hip hop. I don't think there is much that can be added to make fair use more evident.

  5. Wow! I'm really glad I didn't do this idea because I was about to! I didn't know someone else was doing it! I am very familiar with using any style of music and then putting dance steps to it not matter what dance style it is because I too am a dancer. These two styles are polar opposites and you have definitely created something completely new! Good job!
